Who lives here & what do they do?
I live here with my husband, Chris, and our four children, Leo, Lennox, Luella, and our newborn, Ziggy. We have a trusty farm dog, Asha, as well as around 50 cattle on our 140 acre property. Chris is a former Chief Financial Officer and I worked in Event Production in Los Angeles. We left our corporate jobs a few years ago to pursue our dream of owning a farm and vineyard in Tasmania. Chris has taken up viticulture and winemaking and I run our cellar door, accommodation, and events business.

The place where we can be together yet roam free. We’ve lived in many homes all over the world but to finally be in our forever home on a property where our kids can run wild and have endless adventures just outside our door is an absolute dream.
Tell us about your home…
Our home is the end goal to a long journey of hard work and determination to create a fulfilling life. We’ve always dreamed of a simpler life, working with our hands, being creative and having our kids experience a magical childhood. Having a home on our vineyard as well as a beach house on the Freycinet Coast (www.seastonetasmania.com) has resulted in the ability to give our kids and ourselves a beautiful rewarding life.
What inspires the design of your properties?
My design inspiration derives from the natural surroundings in which our homes are located. Tall ceilings and floor to ceiling windows were essential in both properties to maximise the stunning views. The homes compliment their environment with natural materials, so exterior spotted gum cladding made sense for the farmhouse whereas blue stone was ideal for the rocky coast. I’m also partial to a timeless French countryside home. The La Cornue French oven in our farmhouse was one of the first items I selected and served as the jumping off point for the overall house design.
What are some of the biggest lessons you learned while creating your home?
So many! Patience and understanding that builds take time, especially here in Tasmania. Also, setting out a clear budget and checking in on it frequently is imperative.
What do you love about your home?
I love how enchanting the views are from the main living space, it instantly makes me feel calm and relaxed. Watching the sunrise through the valley in the morning is just magical.
Tell us about owning & operating your own Vineyard?
Running our vineyard has been an unexpected curveball to our lives. Our lives on the vineyard are polar opposite to the life we were living in LA and we couldn’t be happier. There’s never a shortage of work to do but to be able to work outside in the vines as well as meet so many interesting people in the cellar door has been a beautiful experience. Also, learning the craft of winemaking with my husband has been so fun. The kids love getting involved in all our jobs around the vineyard, they’re great little helpers and I’m in awe of the life they’re getting to live at such a young age. "
If you were to have a spare free morning, how would you spend it?
I would spend it sitting outside on our deck overlooking the valley just slowly enjoying a strong cup of coffee.
What does simple living mean to you?
Simple living is slow and purposeful. Enjoying a beautiful walk around the farm and watching my kids marvel at everyday little moments is what I live for.
