designer erika harberts
In doing research for a real living article on all things handmade, I came across the gorgeous work of Erika Harberts. She is a designer and mum living in Rotterdam, Holland. After studying textile art she started her own label Mikodesign, creating products for women and children with handprinted fabrics - all from her own gorgeous designs. You must check out her Etsy shop!
Which five words best describe you? Passionate, creative, perfectionist, loving, enthusiastic.
What's your proudest achievement? When I quit my regular job and income to focus on starting my own business.
Who inspires you? People who are passionate about what they do, who have their own strong style.
What are you passionate about? Creating and making things with my own hands and ideas; it can be anything from making bread, organising a birthday party for my daughters, building a kitchen or screenprinting new fabrics... Paris, I must not forget about Paris; I love that city, I can not get enough of it!
What's the best lesson you've learnt? Follow your dreams, don't think about problems but about possibilities.
Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? Lotta Jansdotter - I love her work, her books and attitude and would love to have a cup of tea with her.
What's next? I will host a small winter market in my house next weekend, so I guess I need to tidy up and finish my products.
What are you reading? I don't give myself much time to read these days. At this moment I'm loving the book by Lena Corwin, Printing By Hand.
